Mini Balloon Stress Ball Tips
Do I Have To Use Cornstarch?
When it comes to making our Mini Balloon Stress Balls, we love using cornstarch because of its consistency. It has a “pull” to it when you squeeze it, so it feels very much like traditional store-bought stress balls.

What Else Can I Use to Fill Up My Mini Balloon Stress Balls?
There are TONS of options when it comes to the filling for your Mini Balloon Stress Balls.
In our tutorial, we’ve opted for cornstarch but you can also use the following:
- Rice
- Flour
- Oobleck (Not sure what “oobleck” is?! Take a look at my easy tutorial here – it’s a type of slime that the kids absolutely ADORE making!)
Be Sure To Inflate The Balloon
It’s very important that you inflate the balloon before adding your stress ball filling (in this case, cornstarch). This is a part of the first steps (more detailed in the craft card below!) and we reiterate it because it makes this DIY that much easier!
Inflating the balloon stretches it out a little, giving more wiggle room for your filling to go in.
Don’t Squeeze The Balloon!
As you fill up the balloon with cornstarch (be sure to use a funnel!), be careful to not squeeze the balloon or else you’ll make a big mess! Cornstarch will fly right out of the open end.
DIY Mini Balloon Stress Balls
Equipment
- 1 small funnel
- 1 measuring cup (1/2 cup)
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup cornstarch
- 1 standard size balloon any color
Instructions
- Begin by inflating the balloon to allow it to stretch
- Deflate it slowly by letting go of the open end
- Insert small funnel into the open end of the balloon
- Slowly add cornstarch. Be sure to not squeeze the balloon or else the cornstarch will burst out from the opening.
- Once the balloon is filled with the set amount of cornstarch, tie a knot at the open end. Enjoy!
