The Importance of Quality Time
I’m a boy mom, so I’m writing this article from my perspective. I’m positive these ideas will work for mom-daughter, father-son, or father-daughter dates too.
As I write this, I’m pregnant with my second boy and over the moon about it!
Being a boy mom is everything I could have ever dreamed of: fun, spunky (and very often, messy) days. I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.

Children need that quality time. I’m a work from home mom. Even though I’m at home, my attention is split b between work and my son.
Quality time is time that they get all of you. Turn the phone off and really listen to them. Soak up these memories!

Our Favourite Mother and Son Date Ideas
Today, I’m listing some fun mom and son date ideas. There are tons of things you could do with your little dude to create fun memories that he’ll cherish forever.
So what are you waiting for?! It’s time to take your son out for a date!

1. Nature Walks
When I became a Girl Guide (the Canadian equivalent to Girl Scouts), one of the activities I absolutely loved were the nature walks.
Now that I’m a mom, I’m passing on my love for nature walks to my little one. There’s something so fun about packing healthy snacks, putting on comfy walking shoes and going for a simple hike with your kiddo.

On nature walks, I take advantage to discuss different birds, insects, and plants/flowers with my son. You can make it educational without them realizing it!
2. Water Fight
Water fights are the best because you don’t need to travel very far for them – your backyard will do just fine.
My son and I have gotten really creative with our summertime water fights. We’ve used water balloons, spray bottles, etc.

3. Popcorn and Movie at Home
Right now, my toddler boy is too young to go to the theatre – but that doesn’t stop us from having a movie date!
When my husband’s at work, I get a lot of one-on-one time with my little guy. As a special mom-son date, we like to pop popcorn and watch one his favourite movies (usually SpiderMan or Jurassic Park).
4. Making Slime
My tween and teen nieces were the ones who introduced us to the wonderful world of slime. Now, we’re hooked! I love setting aside some “messy” time as a mother-son date to make our own slime at home.
In fact, we have a fantastic oobleck recipe that is fun and easy.
5. Cook Together
Time in the kitchen must be some of the best one-on-one time my son and I have. As a food blogger, I want to teach my son all my kitchen tips and tricks (just like what my mom did for me growing up). Moreover, cooking and baking together gets him more interested in the meals we serve. This is especially helpful when you’ve got a picky water on your hands.
Make some fun cookies together. They are the best!
