4th of July Cookies

These 4th of July Flag Cookies will be the perfect addition to your holiday BBQ.

Equipment

  • baking pan
  • Parchment paper
  • measuring cups/spoons
  • decorating bag/round decorating tip
  • scalloped circle cookie cutter
  • electric hand mixer, stand mixer
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Spatula
  • Rolling Pin
  • wire cooling rack

Ingredients

  • ¾ cup butter salted
  • ⅔ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp almond extract
  • 1 large egg
  • 1½ cups all purpose flour
  • 1-2 tbsp water
  • 1 large bag of red, blue and white M&M's
  • Vanilla frosting

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Mix together the butter and sugar.
  • Combine the almond extract and egg.
  • Mix in the flour and water and form into a ball of dough.
  • Roll the dough out, about 1/8" thick, use the cookies cutters to cut out your scalloped circles and place onto the baking sheet.
  • Use your M&M’s to make a Flag onto each cookie by filling each cookie with 5 rows, rotating M&M colors to look like a flag.
