DIY Chalk Paint for Kids

Equipment

  • 1 Paint Brush
  • 1 Cup
  • Something to smash chalk with

Ingredients

  • 4 pieces Chalk
  • Water

Instructions

  • Gather similar colors of chalk, blues and greens, pinks and reds, or yellows. Still with one color family to create each paint color.
  • Have you kids smash up the chalk! Hit it with cups and spoons on concrete and scoop the dust into a cup. Hit it in a cup with a spoon. Try to get the chalk to a powdery consistency.
  • Once the chalk is in a powder, add to the cup and slowly add a little bit of water and stir with the paintbrush. The paint shouldn't be too thick or thin. It might be a little chunky though and that's ok if not all the chalk is broken down.
  • When done playing, set aside to let it dry. Then add water again to play with the paint!
