I’m always looking for fun crafts to do to keep my kids busy. Especially during the summer. They’re home from school and I need productive things for them to do to get their creative juices flowing.
This bubble art craft is fun and keeps them engaged. They both loved it and now we can display or use as wrapping paper.

Bubble Art Tips
What kind of paper should I use to make bubble art?
A thick white paper works best. The bubble solution is obviously wet, and will saturate thin paper.

We used watercolor paper, which is perfect because it’s made to get wet and won’t rip or tear easily.

If you don’t have watercolor paper, a thick white card stock will work as well.
The Bubbles don’t seem to have enough color to make Bubble Art
If the bubbles aren’t colorful enough, then add more food coloring. Start with 2 to 3 drops and then add more if needed.

Cover your Surface
This craft is very messy. The bubbles splatter everywhere and it will get food coloring specks all over.

Thankfully food coloring is fairly washable. So if the colors splatter while making bubble art it should be easily to clean up.
I use vinegar and water to clean up and it got all the colors up off my white table. But it’s probably best to cover all the surfaces so you don’t have to worry about the food coloring staining.

Ideally, this would be a great art project for outside. But since we live in Arizona and the high the last couple days has been 110, we did this inside.
If it’s cooler where you are, definitely do this craft outside in a grassy area, and you won’t have to cover your surfaces as much.
Use a Bubble Wand
Don’t limit yourself just to the straw! It can be a little tricky to blow the bubbles on the paper with the straw. But the straw works great for making bubbles in the cup.

If you’re have a hard time use a bubble wand. It will be easier to blow bubbles and the effect will be the same.
