St. Patricks’ Day Color By Number Printable Tips & Ideas
For all the printables I create, they are PDF files that are easy to open on any computer system as the software is free to download online. Once you have the file downloaded and stored on your computer, you can open it up any time and print as many copies as you like.
Print Draft Quality and Multiple Copies
For coloring pages, I always suggest you to print at draft quality. This is usually a setting that is available for most printers when you choose to print on your computer. This option basically makes your printer use less ink and prints the black lines with a little less ink and dots. This is actually ideal for coloring pages, since your kids will be covering up the illustration with their chosen markers and crayons anyway.
This will help you save some printer ink and make the print-out simply a guide for their coloring. You can also print out multiple copies, if you have more than one child or they want to create different variations with different colors.
Use Different Coloring Options
So even though a color by number printable already has color planned out for the illustration, you can choose to break out of that template and color the image however you prefer. It’s actually a great idea to prolong this coloring activity, by letting your kids first color by number, but then giving them another copy and asking them how they would color it instead, if they didn’t follow the coloring guide?
In addition, also try different coloring mediums – from markers to coloring pencils to crayons or even paint! I have found that changing up the material, helps my kids to experiment even more and try different versions and variations – keeping them busy longer!

Try Different Project Ideas
Finally, you can also use this St Patricks’ Day color by number printable for a variety of project ideas, especially if your kids are little older. They might not want to follow the coloring guide or just want to color. So one idea is to help them practice their cutting skills by cutting out on the lines and remixing the image into something new with collage! It’s definitely a challenge and something fun to do with color by number printables that have lots of shapes to cut out.
You can also try using other materials to create a final art piece, such as crumpled up tissue paper to create fun elevated areas or other art materials and colors you might already have in your stash at home. Let your kids enjoy some free creative fun time!
