Check out this alphabet magnet match bingo printable! There are so many ways to play, perfect for any age group.
Hello, I’m Amy and I blog at amylanham.com. I’m always trying to come up with inexpensive ways to keep my kids entertained. And if they can be practicing their reading skills at the same time, that’s a massive win!
My kids are 5 and 7, so they are still newbie readers. Sometimes they will fight me though when it’s time to practice, but not with Bingo! They think they are playing a fun game and don’t even argue about all the reading and letter sounds they are learning.

Tips for Animal Magnet Match Bingo
How Many Kids Can Play Bingo?
I made 4 different cards. The alphabet and animal cards are the same. So 4 people can play or more and there can be multiple winners.
Can We Play Blackout?
Blackout Bingo is where you try to get all the spaces on the board. You could play blackout bingo. There are only 2 letters on each bingo board not used. I used left out different letters, but it’s a possibility that more than 2 people win at once.
How Many Letters Should Each Player Have?
Each player needs all 26 letters. There are only 24 letters on each bingo board, but giving all 26 letters is easier than figuring out which letters are missing before beginning the game.
Do We Have to Play on a Magnetic Board?
Absolutely not! I just think it’s fun! It’ll help the kids keep track of all the letters at the beginning of the game and keep them upright. It also helps the paper/letters not to shift once they start placing letters on the board.
If you don’t have a magnetic board, you can play on a fridge or dishwasher. Or even the washer and dryer! Garage doors are also usually magnetic if you want to play outside. Or a metal screen door. There are other options if you don’t have a magnetic board!
Ways to Play Alphabet Magnet Match Bingo
This is one of those games that there are so many fun ways to play! Each way has learning and skill practice and if you have learners at multiple levels everyone can find a way to play that works for them.
Finding and Matching Letters
This is probably the most obvious way to play. Pick out a letter and your child must find the magnetic letter and then match it to the letter on their board. Simple, but helps with letter recognition.
Finding and Matching Uppercase to Lowercase Letters
Mix it up and instead of having your child find and match uppercase letter to uppercase letters, have them find the lowercase letter and match it to the uppercase letter! This is an important skill and helps with letter recognition.
Letter Sounds/Phonogram Sounds
My kids school teaches them phonogram sounds. Instead of saying the letter say the sound or sounds that the letter makes. Have your child find the letter and match it to the letter or animal that makes that sound on their Bingo board.
Matching Animal Names to Their First Letter
Say an animal name and have your child figure out which letter that name starts with. They can either then match the letter to the letter on the board or to the animal on their board.
Options for Younger Kids
If you have kids that aren’t ready to read yet, or may not know all their letters, have them do picture matching. They can play just like the older kids, but on their level. Say the name of the animal and have them use magnetic shapes to mark the animals.
Have Your Child Play Alone
A great activity for your child to do on their own! They can read the word, match the picture, or match the letter all on their own.
Both my kids loved picking out the cards on their own and doing this as an activity instead of a game.
