After signing up above and receiving the downloadable PDF link, just save to your computer and print the illustrations right at home. The wonderful aspect of digital printables is that you will always have them on hand to print out another copy as needed.
Use it for Coloring
As usual, there are many coloring page illustrations you can download online and it’s super easy to print these to keep your kids busy. By offering a variety of illustrations and subjects to color, you can let your kids pick and choose what they want to color up today. I’m sharing three illustrations for Earth Day in the PDF, but you can also check out the other downloads on this blog and offer more printable designs for coloring.
A pro tip – you can save ink and print coloring pages at draft quality in your printer settings. This option uses less ink and since your kids will be coloring these illustrations anyway, they don’t need a super dark line printed anyway!
Make it a Poster for Deco
Besides using coloring pages for their intended use of coloring, you can also consider printing the illustration larger and using it as wall decor. There are office and copy shops that offer an engineering print at a large poster size. They are meant for engineering drafts, but are super cool for kids because they are usually quite affordable for such a large poster print.
This means your kids can color or even paint on a much larger surface and you can even frame the final product for decoration. Printing digital coloring pages at different sizes can help you maximize their usage, from little gift tags to giant posters! Let your kids get creative!
Try Alternative Materials for Color
Besides the traditional coloring utensils such as crayons, pencils and markers – consider adding a learning component to your next coloring session by letting your kids collect natural items that can color the pages.
Many of us might have done this in our childhood, such as using juice as a painting stain. Or perhaps colorful flowers rubbed on paper will give you another colored effect. Think about what natural Earth materials we can use to color up our pages.
Here are some everyday items that can be used for coloring:
- Herbs and spices mixed in water
- ketchup and mustard
- beets and tomatoes
- all types of berries
- spinach
- red cabbage
- coffee and tea
You can have a lot of fun with your kids, experimenting with everyday food items and see which one gives you a nice color!
