What Are Smoothie Bowls?
Smoothie bowls are basically smoothies with fruit, nuts, and seeds on top of them. You could call them a deconstructed smoothie.
This post is not sponsored, but we used Evive Smoothies to make that bright blue smoothie base. They’re smoothie cubes that don’t necessarily require a blender. The concept is simple: all you do is add the frozen cubes in a glass/cup and fill it up with your choice of liquid (I always go for almond milk). Then, you shake it up and ta-da! It’s ready to serve.
How I Make My Smoothie Bowls
I start out with my favorite smoothie base. Then, I top the bowl with fruit and seeds.
To make it fit in with the mermaid theme, I used a bright blue smoothie that looks like the ocean!

Smoothie Bowls For Kids
Here are some tips that will help you make the easiest smoothie bowls with your kiddos. Eating healthy has never been so much fun!
Best Blue Smoothies
First, you need to start out with the bright blue base for the ocean. This means you’ll want to use a blueberry smoothie, but adjust how many blueberries you use so that it’s a brighter blue.
Can you use food coloring? Sure! But I hesitate to use food coloring with kids when there are varieties of fruit that will do the same thing, but naturally.
Prepare the Ingredients Ahead Of Time
If you’re going to let your kids decorate their own smoothie bowls, I suggest setting out the fruit and toppings for them.
Do as much prep work as you can so that all they have to do is dig in!
Make An Example Bowl
It will also help your kids if they can see an example in front of them. Create your bowl first and then they can copy it or make their own bowl.
When To Make Mermaid Smoothie Bowls
These are perfect treats to make together during mermaid-themed birthday parties. But they’re also so easy to make that you don’t really need an excuse! Just add a little fun and magic to your morning.
