Although we are living in a digital age, it’s important for kids to learn the foundations. I often see kids learning the alphabet through songs and videos which is a great way to make learning fun. However, I think it’s important to emphasize handwriting and the analog skills we will always need growing up. That’s why I designed this workbook of printable letters of the alphabet to trace.
This is a fun educational activity – just like this printable map of the United States.

Hello! My name is Linda from tortagialla.com and I’m a mama who loves designing digital printables. I’ve created this educational printable for kids who are still practicing their handwriting and learning the alphabet. It’s a great way to help preschoolers and kindergarteners learn through writing practice.
In addition, even for older kids who have learned the alphabet already, they can still use this workbook printable for practicing words and sentences. Nothing can replace the actual practice needed for our hands to develop muscles for writing.

Printing Tips
When it comes to using digital printables, it’s important to remember a few printing tips. Especially when it comes to using a workbook with so many pages, it’s best to always double-check settings before hitting the print button.
Although every computer system and printer brand will have its own unique printer settings menu, you will always be able to control the paper size and print quality. So just be sure those are selected properly before printing at home.
For this workbook, because it’s for kids to practice handwriting, you can actually print in draft quality. It basically uses less ink and might result in a grey print-out. However, for the purposes of tracing and handwriting, it’s actually better to not have a dark print-out.
Binding Tips
When it comes to creating a workbook for kids, it’s also important to think about how you might bind the pages together. Although it’s the simplest to staple the stack of pages together, it might not live up to the wear and tear of kids’ usage. If nothing else, consider at least adding a cardstock cover to help protect the pages.
Besides using a simple stapler, you might also consider putting all these pages in a binder. It might actually be more ergonomic to take out an individual page when your kids practice handwriting. Also, creating a binder means you can keep all pages together and track the progress over time.
Use It Again!
Finally, consider the multiple uses of this free printable letters PDF. Originally, I meant it for my younger daughter who is still learning the alphabet. She can trace the letters, draw a corresponding picture and then practice rewriting the letters on the primary lines.
However, I’ve printed another copy for my older child, because he can still practice his handwriting by writing words instead of only the letters. In time, he can also create another set when writing complete sentences. You can suggest themes or challenges based on the alphabet and reuse this printable workbook over and over again.
If you have more than one child, it’s a great way to create a game or competition that doubles as an educational tool. There are so many options, so make use of this digital printable many times!
