Using These Valentine Day Printables for Preschoolers
After signing up above and receiving the downloadable PDF, print the worksheets from your home computer. The magic of digital printables is that you always have it on hand to print when needed. You can even make multiple copies if you have more than one child or if they have friends over. Remember that you can save some ink if you print draft quality, because these types of worksheets don’t require the lines to be super dark anyway.
Coloring and Counting Competitions
Whether it is with siblings, friends or with you as the parent, you can play with your child as they work through the different worksheets included. There is a coloring page, a counting hearts page and a writing page for Valentine related words.
If you have more than one child, you can make it a competition on who can complete the worksheets first! Throw in a reward if you want to make it really competitive. Or instead of speed, you might say it’s the quality that counts. You can even designate a parent as the judge at the end. If you are the one playing with your child, you can still join in on the challenge with them for giggles together. Especially with younger children, it’s often not the activity that matters, but the fact that you are spending time interacting with them that lights up their eyes and faces. They simply want to have fun with their loved ones.
Make it a Habit Tracker or Challenge
For the 100 hearts page, you can actually turn it into a habit tracker or challenge, especially if you have older children in the family. Put this on the fridge and do a family challenge of tracking a particular habit for 100 days.
There are many 100 day challenges out there from fitness to art challenges. So pick something that resonates with your family and write in the number and color up the hearts for each day. It can be a very fun activity that stretches over many months for the whole family. Another motivating factor is to include a reward at the end. Write down a family excursion perhaps at the bottom as the prize, when the hearts are completed.
Sometimes I like to use these trackers as a countdown as well. So you can make it a countdown tracker for highly anticipated events such as 100 days until summer vacation or Christmas!
Make it a Valentine’s Day Card
The coloring page included on the first page of the downloadable PDF is a cute drawing of a lady holding a heart. It’s easy enough to simply color up the page for some de-stressing coloring time. However, you can turn this into a craft session if you print the page smaller and color it up to make into a Valentine’s Day card. Whether for a teacher or a family member, making Valentine’s Day cards are always a great crafty activity for the kids.
You can take it even further by letting your kids use other art materials you might already have at home to embellishment the card. Perhaps paints or stickers and ribbons – whatever you have in your craft stash. Let your kids craft away and make a set of cards for all your beloved family members.
