Tips on Using Christmas Coloring Page Printables
Digital coloring pages are simple and easy to use. Just download the files and print as many copies as you need from the comfort of your home. You’ll have a fun activity ready to go in no time! With simple supplies like crayons and colored pencils, it’s really the easiest activity to offer to your kids. However, here are few more unique ideas on how to spice up your coloring page activity sessions.
Crafty Material Alternatives
From markers to colored pencils, we all gravitate towards classic school supplies we already have in our home. However, when it comes to coloring pages you can also consider using alternative materials for coloring.
Consider using any mark-making art supply to ‘color’ in your designs. From paint to collage papers to glue art and more. Shop your own stash and get creative with what coloring supplies you can use for a new approach on these pages.
Recently, my kids really enjoyed watercoloring on different printable coloring pages. You can print on special watercolor paper or even just cardstock that will hold up better to water. Using a little paintbrush instead of a pencil made the experience different and more interesting for my kids. So consider mixing up your supplies and trying other crafty materials with these Christmas coloring page printables.
Make it a Gift
One thing I love to do is to give my kids a goal, even when they are just playing around and having fun with coloring pages. You can have a fun and productive crafternoon coloring session by printing enough copies for various family members. Then have your kids decorate and color up each one for each family member.
I often suggest this idea to my kids whenever they are drawing or making something. Their uncles and aunties love to receive these gifts through happy mail posted throughout the year!
Create a Competition with Family
Another idea for using these Christmas coloring page printables is to have a family competition. Let the kids use their imagination and color up their favorite design. Then all the finished pieces can be posted in a gallery wall for judging. You can get the whole family involved, admiring everyone’s work as you would in an art show.
Then you can provide prizes and awards for each kiddo and their masterpiece. You can consider non-competitive awards like most colorful artwork, the greenest artwork, the most unique material used or best painted piece. It’s up to the adults to come up with the most interesting award options. Prizes can be holiday themed treats or small gift cards for older children and adults.
